Every journey starts somewhere.

From fine cabinetry to designer upcycling

Christoph's journey started when he moved from Austria to the UK to learn fine cabinetry in Dorset - to a BA (hons) in furniture design and make in Oxford - to running his own furniture business.

Below is a small selection of work to illustrate the broad range of projects Christoph has worked on. His experience in making bespoke pieces to fitting out whole spaces are now shaping his way of upcycling.

In 2016, Christoph moved from Austria to the UK to learn fine furniture making in Bridport, Dorset. Working under master craftsman Petter Southall, the workshop is known for crafting high end gallery pieces which often incorporated steam bent components. As apprentice for three years, Christoph got to work on numerous pieces at various stages of the process.

Joining UK’s leading furniture school Rycotewood Furniture Centre in 2019, Christoph acquired a first-class BA (hons) in ‘Furniture Design and Make’ accredited by Oxford Brookes University. Building on the traditional skills learnt during his apprenticeship, Christoph designed and made various pieces inspired by fine cabinetry, material exploration and light-hearted social criticism in a post-pandemic world (rocking bench).

After University, Christoph was awarded an incubation workshop at the SYLVA Wood Foundation, an Oxfordshire based charity focusing on sustainable management of woodlands. During his tenancy Christoph has helped various clients to realising their ideas and furnishing their spaces.

‘I take upcycling to the next level, infusing it with the craftsmanship of a professional furniture designer and maker.’
